재미한인과학기술자협회(KSEA) 소속 USC, UCLA, Harvey Mudd에 재학 중인 한인 및 한국계 대학생들이 고등학생을 위한 ‘STEM 진로 멘토링 콘퍼런스‘를 오는 3월 26일(토) 10시부터(서부시간 기준) 온라인으로 개최합니다. 이 행사는 중앙일보 교육포털 ‘에듀브리지플러스’가 특별 후원합니다.
참가 학생들은 세 종류의 세션을 골라 참여할 수 있으며, 각 세션은 25분의 진행과 5분간의 휴식 시간으로 이루어집니다.
● Major Fair – 이공계 전공 및 각 대학에 관한 자세한 “인싸” 정보
● Lightning Talk – 10분 내로 총정리한 의대, 대학원, 산업체 등 진로 경험담
● Workshop – 대학생활에 꼭 필요한 Skill 워크숍
참가 대상은 STEM 전공 및 진로에 관심있는 전 미주지역 고등학생이며 참가 희망자들은 사전 등록이 필요합니다. 참가자들에게는 소정의 상품권 ($25)과 현 KSEA 학생들과의 학교 투어, 동반 식사 또는 수업 동반 참관을 할 수 있는 기회를 추첨을 통해 드립니다.
KSEA는 전국적으로 활동하고 있는 한인 과학자들과 기술자들로 구성되어 있으며, 2020년에 코로나로 중단 전까지 중앙일보와 공동으로 College Fair & Major Fair를 개최해 왔습니다. USC, UCLA, Harvey Mudd College에 재학 중인 KSEA 소속 한인 대학생이 코로나 이후 후배들의 대학 진학 및 진로를 돕고자 특별한 관심으로 자원해 마련한 행사입니다.
STEM 분야 전공을 희망하는 많은 학생의 참여를 기대합니다.

Students of USC Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) Chapter are hosting an interactive STEM informational event for local high school students in Southern California, called STEM Major Expo with KSEA. KSEA is a nationally recognized organization, whose local professional chapter previously hosted an annual event called KSEA Major Fair at Sunny Hills High School in the fall, where active professionals spoke on STEM disciplines to students. Unfortunately, this event was indefinitely postponed in 2020 due to COVID restrictions.
As current college students, we are continuing this event ourselves to benefit local high school students in the Southern California region who are considering a path in the STEM field going into college. This year, we are hosting a fully online mini-conference at 10 am on Saturday, 3/26. We will have a keynote speaker who will speak on their endeavors in their field, followed by multiple student panelist sessions run by current college student leaders in the Los Angeles area on becoming successful in college. Our student representatives attend USC, UCLA, and Harvey Mudd College, many of whom hail from local high schools in LA and Orange County.
One of the highlights of the event will be the returning Major Fair, where high school students will get a chance to learn about what majors are offered in the STEM field—from natural sciences to engineering. Our student panelists will also hold workshops on various useful topics, where they will share their knowledge and experience throughout college in short talks. We will conclude the event with raffle prizes such as gift cards and a guided tour and meal at the USC campus with some of our student members in our KSEA organization.
